Bosun Lawal update as Ireland receive green light from Stoke City

Stoke City have cleared 23-year-old Bosun Lawal to join the Republic of Ireland squad after completing his injury rehabilitation at Clayton Wood. The defender missed three Championship matches after suffering a hamstring injury during Stoke's 4-0 win against Charlton on September 5. Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson called him up for the international window, where he has now traveled ahead of a Nations League match against Austria.

Stoke manager Mark Robins praised Lawal as the team's most talented center-half while acknowledging ongoing challenges in keeping the powerful player fit. Lawal previously sat out fixtures against Israel and Kosovo as Stoke's medical team coordinated with Irish staff on his recovery plan. Ireland also face Israel on Sunday before Lawal returns to Stoke ahead of their October 10 match against Bolton.
