Flames Set Opening Night Roster With Huberdeau on IR, Suniev Sent to AHL

The Calgary Flames have officially set their 23-man opening night roster for the 2026-27 NHL season. Forward Jonathan Huberdeau will begin the campaign on injured reserve as he recovers from offseason hip resurfacing surgery. Meanwhile, forward Aydar Suniev was assigned to the AHL's Calgary Wranglers despite scoring three goals during the preseason.

Calgary's finalized roster includes two goaltenders, eight defensemen, and 13 forwards. Dustin Wolf enters the season as the starting goaltender backed up by Devin Cooley. Young prospects including defensemen Zayne Parekh and Simon Nemec alongside forwards Matvei Gridin and Brennan Othmann secured opening night spots.
