Manchester City guilty of ‘sham payments’ & inflating revenues by £900m, says independent commission

An independent regulatory commission has found Manchester City guilty of "sham payments" and artificially inflating revenues by over £900 million ($1.19 billion). Following an investigation into more than 100 Premier League charges spanning 2009 to 2018, the club was found guilty of almost all charges, including breaching financial regulations and duties of cooperation.

Manchester City declared they are innocent and confirmed plans to appeal the verdict, stating the ruling contains clear material errors. Premier League chief executive Richard Masters called the decision the most significant in league history, with sanctions to be determined at an upcoming hearing.
