Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell shared his surprised reaction to seeing new teammate Peyton Watson's height during an offseason encounter at the World Cup. Mitchell stated he remarked to Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman how tall Watson was before a deal was even considered. Watson joined Cleveland from the Denver Nuggets this summer via a sign-and-trade to fill the team's long-term opening at small forward.
Mitchell praised Watson's competitive spirit and mature play on the court, highlighting his defensive versatility and experience with a contending team. The Cavaliers are currently conducting training camp ahead of their upcoming 2026-27 NBA regular season opener on October 22 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
