Fitzpatrick’s ‘best period of golf’ ever? | ‘I’ve contended a lot!’

Matt Fitzpatrick stated he is playing the best golf of his career following a three-shot victory at the FedEx Open de France. The win marked his fourth worldwide title of 2026, following three earlier PGA Tour victories at the Valspar Championship, RBC Heritage, and Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The win moved him to the top of the Ryder Cup qualification standings and inside the top 10 of the Race to Dubai.

Looking ahead, Fitzpatrick is preparing to compete at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship alongside his father, Russell, in the pro-am event. Currently ranked world No 4, Fitzpatrick could achieve a career-high world No 2 ranking with a strong performance in Scotland. His brother, Alex Fitzpatrick, will also play in the event, partnering with their mother, Sue.
