Egor Chinakhov gets a shot on the Penguins’ top power-play unit

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Egor Chinakhov was deployed on the team's top power-play unit during Tuesday's practice ahead of the season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers. Chinakhov practiced on the left flank alongside Sidney Crosby, Tommy Novak, Rickard Rakell, and Erik Karlsson. Head coach Dan Muse cited Chinakhov's dangerous wrist shot and playmaking ability, with the opportunity arising primarily due to Bryan Rust's absence through injury.

Chinakhov produced 36 points in 43 games after being acquired by Pittsburgh via trade midway through last season. Meanwhile, forward Blake Lizotte participated in practice without contact restrictions and expressed optimism about playing Wednesday, though he still awaits final medical clearance.
