Sheffield Wednesday prospect’s ‘elite’ trait lauded by manager in first senior loan experience

South Shields manager Mike Williamson has praised Sheffield Wednesday loanee Joe Emery for possessing an "elite level mentality." The 19-year-old defender joined the National League North side on his first senior loan spell to secure regular playing time following defensive additions at Hillsborough.

After suffering a 6-0 defeat on his debut against Hereford, Emery helped South Shields keep consecutive clean sheets in wins over Witton Albion and Buxton. His initial loan agreement is scheduled to run until October 10.
