The Vancouver Canucks focused on acquiring experienced veterans to support their rebuilding core ahead of the 2026-27 NHL season. Cynthia Ryley Delaney of OilersNation reports that Vancouver brought in veterans Brendan Gallagher, Luke Schenn, and Jamie Oleksiak. Additionally, the franchise secured young defenceman Zeev Buium to an eight-year contract extension carrying a $9.38 million annual cap hit after selecting prospect Caleb Malhotra third overall in the NHL Draft.
Several departures also highlighted Vancouver's off-season activity, including trading forward Nils Höglander for a 2029 third-round draft pick. Defenceman Marcus Pettersson was traded to the New York Rangers in exchange for a 2030 first-round pick, while Teddy Blueger joined the Toronto Maple Leafs. Delaney argues that the Canucks face a difficult outlook and expects the team to struggle heavily throughout the upcoming campaign.
