Former West Brom and Wolves striker surprised by derby ‘gulf’

Former Albion and Wolves striker Don Goodman admitted he was surprised by the noticeable gulf in quality between the two sides during Wolverhampton Wanderers' 1-0 Black Country Derby win over West Bromwich Albion at Molineux. Despite a narrow scoreline courtesy of Fer Lopez's solitary goal, Goodman noted that Wolves comfortably controlled the encounter against a blunt Albion attack.

Goodman suggested the victory could serve as a major catalyst for Wolves' Championship promotion push under new manager Cesar Peixoto. The result lifted Wolves to fourth in the Championship table, level on points with the pace set during their 2017-18 title-winning season under Nuno Espirito Santo.
