Celtic winger Hyunjun Yang has reached the Asian Games final with South Korea after their 2-1 victory over China in Osaka on Wednesday. The squad will now compete for the gold medal in Toyota on Saturday, October 3, against either Japan or Uzbekistan. Securing a gold medal would earn the players exemption from mandatory South Korean military service.
Yang was an unused substitute in the semi-final win, having not featured since the opening match against Qatar due to a minor hamstring injury. In the match against China, South Korea conceded an opening goal to Wang Yudong before Young-jun Lee equalized and Bae-jun Ho scored the late winning goal.
