San Diego Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove returned to the mound Tuesday night after nearly two years away, closing out an 8-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series. Musgrove pitched a scoreless ninth inning, working around two hits and a walk by striking out Michael Conforto with the bases loaded.
The appearance was Musgrove's first in the major leagues since October 2, 2024, following recovery from Tommy John surgery and multiple setbacks.
