Pablo Torre has revealed yet another stunning financial detail involving Kawhi Leonard as part of the continued investigation into the Los Angeles Clippers‘ salary cap circumvention scandal.
Journalist Pablo Torre has reported that Kawhi Leonard received a $672,000 payment from Boingo Wireless for a September 2022 appearance at Camp Pendleton. According to Torre's reporting on Pablo Torre Finds Out, internal documents and government records show Leonard spent one hour greeting Marines at the military base, which was reportedly the only completed appearance among several arrangements valued at over $18 million.
The report details that a separate $1.213 million agreement involving the Los Angeles Clippers was signed concurrently with Boingo. The revelations follow an NBA investigation into salary cap circumvention that previously led to a one-year suspension for owner Steve Ballmer, a $30 million team fine, the forfeiture of five first-round picks, and a $700,000 fine for Leonard before his trade to the Toronto Raptors.
