Unusual and possibly unprecedented arrangement sees Mitch Marsh remain skipper for the third ODI against South Africa

Pat Cummins returned to Australia's ODI lineup for the series finale against South Africa in Potchefstroom, playing his first 50-over match in nearly two years. Despite Cummins being the official format captain, Mitch Marsh retained the captaincy for the match to ensure team continuity. South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first after a delayed start caused by a wet outfield.
Australia also recalled Mitchell Starc and batter Ollie Peake, while South Africa made five changes with Aiden Markram captaining in place of the rested Temba Bavuma. Cummins' appearance serves as preparation for the upcoming three-Test series starting next week in Durban.
