Pittsburgh Penguins first-line forward Bryan Rust is officially considered week-to-week after suffering an upper-body injury during a preseason matchup against the Buffalo Sabres. Rust will miss Pittsburgh's regular-season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers, leaving the team without one of its key top-line contributors.
Head coach Dan Muse addressed the setback, calling it unfortunate following Rust's strong training camp. In his absence, Nick Robertson may be elevated to the top line alongside Sidney Crosby and Richard Rakell as the Penguins navigate injuries to multiple forwards.
