Moises Caicedo's absence is hurting Chelsea's midfield, and Cole Palmer's smile could soon disappear if the Ecuadorian remains sidelined much longer

Writer James Fudge argues that Chelsea forward Cole Palmer is affected most by the injury absence of midfielder Moises Caicedo. Caicedo has played only 13 minutes this season after suffering an injury recurrence against Brighton, subsequently withdrawing from Ecuador international duty with no set return date.
According to Fudge, Caicedo's defensive ground coverage allows Palmer to operate high up the pitch with creative freedom. Without the midfielder providing defensive stability, the writer notes Palmer is often forced to drop deep to protect midfield areas rather than leading attacks.
