The Packers’ blockbuster deal for Micah Parsons is getting another look after the Cowboys added Joey Porter Jr. to their defensive rebuild.

The Dallas Cowboys' acquisition of cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from the Pittsburgh Steelers has drawn renewed scrutiny to the Green Bay Packers' blockbuster trade for Micah Parsons. Dallas sent a 2028 second-round pick and a conditional 2027 sixth-rounder to Pittsburgh on September 30. Following the move, ESPN analyst Benjamin Solak highlighted how the Cowboys have spent significant draft capital and money trying to rebuild their defense since declining to pay Parsons.
Green Bay originally traded two first-round selections and Kenny Clark for Parsons in August 2025, subsequently signing him to a four-year, $188 million extension. Dallas has since expended high-value picks to trade for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and Porter. Heavy notes that while Dallas continues to invest heavily in replacing Parsons, the Packers made the simpler choice to commit premier resources directly to a single elite pass rusher.
