Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Edmundo Sosa expressed hope that he will be ready for a decisive Game 3 after sustaining a leg injury during Wednesday's NL Wild Card Series win against the Atlanta Braves. Sosa exited the game in the ninth inning after beating out an infield single and immediately signaling to trainers as he crossed first base.
Sosa explained postgame that the discomfort was in his left inner thigh, located slightly lower than the groin injury he suffered during the final regular-season game. Should Sosa be sidelined, the Phillies could potentially deploy Otto Kemp at third base or shift Alec Bohm to third and Bryce Harper to first base.
