ESPN NFL reporter Jeff Darlington found himself at the center of online criticism after a recent on-air exchange. During a discussion about Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jalon Daniels, another reporter referenced Daniels’ performance in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
ESPN NFL insider Jeff Darlington is facing widespread backlash and calls to apologize following on-air comments regarding the East-West Shrine Bowl. During a discussion about Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, Darlington dismissed a colleague's mention of the game by stating, "With all due respect, you lost me at East-West Shrine Game."
Critics and analysts labeled the comment out of touch and disrespectful to the historic college all-star game, which dates back to 1925 and benefits Shriners Children's Hospitals. Fans and observers highlighted numerous Hall of Fame alumni from the event, while Darlington has not publicly responded to the criticism.
