Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed will miss the remainder of the season and undergo surgery after suffering a neck injury, head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Wednesday. Reed suffered the injury during Green Bay's 20-17 overtime win against the New York Jets on September 20. He was immobilized on a backboard and hospitalized overnight in New Jersey before returning to Green Bay.
While LaFleur confirmed the injury is not career-ending, Reed will be placed on injured reserve for the second consecutive year. The 26-year-old receiver, who signed a three-year, $50.25 million extension in April, had previously missed extensive time last season with a collarbone injury. The Packers will now rely more heavily on wide receivers Christian Watson and rookie Matthew Golden.
