Gary Neville says Man City verdict has ‘dragged Premier League through the MUD’ and warns England’s top flight could suffer same fate as Italy’s Serie A

Gary Neville has warned that Manchester City's guilty verdict has dragged the Premier League through the mud, damaging the division's global reputation. Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Neville compared the situation to Italy's 2006 Calciopoli scandal, cautioning that English football could face a similar long-term decline after an independent commission found City guilty on multiple charges.

Manchester City intend to appeal the verdict, with expected sanctions yet to be confirmed. The ongoing fallout also drew criticism toward Prime Minister Andy Burnham from figures including Stan Collymore and Rio Ferdinand, after Burnham expressed concern over potentially losing City's Abu Dhabi owners.
