Defender set for new deal as problem position persists
Manchester United are reportedly set to extend the contract of 19-year-old left-back Harry Amass ahead of the January transfer window. According to the Manchester Evening News, the club plans to trigger a 12-month contract extension clause to retain the academy graduate and reinforce the squad's defensive depth.
Manager Michael Carrick has faced a shortage of senior options at left-back, complicated by an injury scare for Patrick Dorgu while on international duty with Denmark. Luke Shaw recently returned from a thigh issue, but persistent squad absences previously forced right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui to cover the position.
