Munster Rugby chief executive Ian Flanagan has announced he will step down from his role at the end of October. Munster Rugby and the IRFU confirmed that an interim CEO will be named in the coming weeks while a recruitment process begins for a permanent successor. The departure follows months of intense scrutiny regarding organizational governance and off-field controversies.
Flanagan's position came under mounting pressure following voluntary redundancies in March and the controversial hiring of attack coach Roger Randle in April, whose contract was canceled by mutual consent. The situation led to board resignations by former players Billy Holland, Mick O'Driscoll, and Killian Keane, alongside recent public criticism regarding coaching instability from Peter O'Mahony.
