Manchester City Women drew 1-1 against Real Madrid in the Women's Champions League at Joie Stadium on Thursday. Khadija Shaw scored the equalizer for City after Linda Caicedo opened the scoring for the Spanish visitors. The result leaves both teams with two points from their first two league phase fixtures, following City's opening draw against Bayern Munich.
The match came amid off-pitch turbulence following the Premier League's guilty verdict against Manchester City's men's team. Head coach Andrée Jeglertz maintained the news had no impact on his squad's performance, while goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita made key second-half saves to preserve the draw.
