Torey Lovullo is going back to the Diamondbacks on a two-year deal. The Mariners will have to look elsewhere for a new manager.

Torey Lovullo has signed a two-year contract to remain as manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks, removing him from consideration for the Seattle Mariners' vacant managerial role. The Mariners had reportedly discussed Lovullo internally as a potential replacement for Dan Wilson, fitting president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto's stated preference for an experienced outside hire with fresh perspectives.
Zachary Rymer writes for Sodo Mojo that Lovullo's return to Arizona forces Seattle to explore other options. Potential alternatives mentioned include Stephen Vogt, Rocco Baldelli, Brandon Hyde, Chris Woodward, and current Pittsburgh Pirates bench coach Kristopher Negrón, as the Mariners face pressure to secure a hire ahead of an impending December 1 lockout.
