All Blacks head coach Dave Rennie has advocated for the National Provincial Championship to remain a key part of New Zealand rugby. Speaking to NewstalkZB, Rennie emphasized that the tournament represents the fabric of the sport locally, amid discussions by New Zealand Rugby regarding potential structural overhauls to domestic competitions.
New Zealand Rugby recently reviewed three potential proposals in Wellington, including Super Rugby expansion or creating a new eight- to 10-team competition. Rennie stressed that the NPC's tribal community connections and its role in developing talent for Super Rugby and the All Blacks must be maintained.
