Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Colin Holderman announced he will undergo right wrist surgery, ending his 2026 season ahead of the postseason. Despite being ruled out, Holderman offered an inspiring message of support to his teammates, referring to the American League Central champions as the "team of destiny" ahead of their playoff clash against the Chicago White Sox.
Holderman posted a 2.73 ERA across 54 appearances this season before landing on the injured list in mid-August. The right wrist issue has troubled him for four years, and while recovery timelines remain undisclosed, the reliever is eligible for arbitration estimated around $2.5 million.
