The World Cup cult hero and former Premier League player lives a very different life since leaving football behind

Former Premier League defender Taribo West, famously named by Thierry Henry as his toughest opponent, now lives an unrecognisable life working as a Christian pastor. The former Nigerian international retired from professional football following a brief stint with Plymouth Argyle and subsequently founded a church in Lagos in 2014.
West explained that he left football for the pulpit after experiencing a spiritual encounter that changed his path. During his playing career, the centre-back earned 42 international caps for Nigeria, won an Olympic gold medal in 1996, lifted the UEFA Cup with Inter Milan in 1998, and featured in England for Derby County.
