Rory McIlroy has confirmed he will play in the Abu Dhabi Championship despite security concerns, as he chases a record-equalling eighth Race to Dubai title

Rory McIlroy has confirmed he will compete in the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links starting November 5, despite geopolitical security concerns in the Middle East. The tournament serves as the opening leg of the DP World Tour's playoff events, where McIlroy continues his push to equal Colin Montgomerie's record of eight Race to Dubai titles.
While other competitors such as Matt Fitzpatrick initially voiced reservations about traveling before receiving tour reassurances, McIlroy maintained he had no hesitations. The DP World Tour also confirmed property developer Aldar as the tournament's new title sponsor, keeping the season finale in the United Arab Emirates rather than relocating.
