Jalen Duren's new $200 million contract officially removes him as a potential Hawks target.

Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren has agreed to a five-year, $200 million contract extension, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The deal ends months of speculation regarding the 22-year-old center's future and removes him from potential trade interest from teams including the Atlanta Hawks.
Writer Garrett Brown argues that missing out on Duren is favorable for Atlanta, as committing $40 million annually would limit financial flexibility. Brown notes that Hawks President of Basketball Operations Onsi Saleh should preserve resources for a true needle-moving star to complement franchise centerpiece Jalen Johnson.
