Giannis sends bold warning to rest of NBA about ‘nightmare’ that’s coming

Giannis Antetokounmpo warned that the Miami Heat's defense will be a "nightmare" for opponents this season during an interview with ESPN's Hannah Storm. Alongside teammate Bam Adebayo, Antetokounmpo emphasized their competitive mindset, while Adebayo noted that opposing teams will struggle both against their combined defensive presence and when trying to slow Antetokounmpo down in transition.

Miami ranked 14th in defensive efficiency during the 2025-26 season, allowing 113.6 points per 100 possessions before being eliminated in the play-in tournament. Head coach Erik Spoelstra plans to build lineups around both frontcourt stars, though Miami's early backcourt rotations will be tested following a calf injury to guard Dru Smith.
