Titleist has expanded its lineup of golf balls featuring Alignment Integrated Marking (AIM), bringing the total number of models with the visual aid to six. The technology is designed to improve putting accuracy, with company testing showing golfers are 35% more precise when aligning putts to their intended line.
The expansion brings new AIM options to the brand’s performance golf balls, including the Tour Soft, Velocity, TruFeel, and AVX models, complementing existing offerings in the Pro V1 family. According to Titleist’s research, which compared the AIM designs to a standard side stamp, the markings provide a significant advantage that becomes more pronounced from longer distances.
Frederick Waddell, Director of Golf Ball Product Management, explained the data. “Interestingly, AIM is more valuable as you get farther from the hole,” Waddell stated. “On a four-foot putt, you might be okay lining up your ball with a standard sidestamp because it’s such a short putt. But as you go back to 12 feet or 16 feet, you could be off by up to a foot on either side of the hole as that dispersion cone gets wider. The data really illustrates that, for golfers who like a form of alignment on their ball, our AIM designs can help them be more precise on the greens.”
This finding addresses a common issue where small aiming errors are magnified over distance. The various AIM designs are tailored to the golfers most likely to use each specific ball model. While Pro V1 users often prefer a subtle performance line, the other models feature larger markings for more visual assistance.
The new offerings include the AIM 360, a line that wraps around the ball, on the soft-feeling TruFeel and low-spinning AVX. A larger ‘arrow’ design is now an option on the distance-focused Velocity, and an AIM Performance Line is available on the Tour Soft. The move acknowledges that a significant number of golfers, including over 60% of Titleist’s tour professionals, already use some form of alignment marking.
