Two games in, the Flyers have been drastically outshot, sloppy with the puck, and look nowhere close to the group that clicked last year for a playoff run.
Nick Tricome argues that the Philadelphia Flyers face early cause for concern after a poor 0-1-1 start to the season. The Flyers opened with a 7-0 home defeat against the rival Pittsburgh Penguins before falling 3-2 in overtime against the New Jersey Devils, where Jack Hughes scored the winning goal.
Tricome highlights that Philadelphia has been outshot 82-44 and suffered from 44 giveaways across the two games. Backup goaltender Joseph Woll provided a rare bright spot by stopping 41 shots in the overtime loss, while head coach Rick Tocchet and defenseman Travis Sanheim acknowledged the team needs major improvements.
