Former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski publicly apologized to Michael Penix Jr. and the Atlanta Falcons following the quarterback's strong performance against the Green Bay Packers. Gronkowski's initial comments followed an 0-2 start by the Falcons under head coach Kevin Stefanski while Penix recovered from a November 2025 partially torn ACL. Penix returned to lead Atlanta to a 35-14 win at Lambeau Field, passing for 256 yards and a touchdown alongside 194 rushing yards from Bijan Robinson and 194 receiving yards from Drake London.
