Marco Palestra is back in Chelsea training. Here's how his return could give Xabi Alonso more tactical flexibility and unlock Chelsea's attack.

Marco Palestra has returned to Chelsea first-team training and could make his debut against Bournemouth following the international break. Writer William Kennedy argues that the versatile wing-back's return will significantly unlock manager Xabi Alonso's tactical system. Palestra, who can feature on either flank, was previously deployed on the left by Alonso during a pre-season fixture against Real Sociedad.
Kennedy highlights that the 6-foot-1 defender will provide much-needed aerial physicality to help address Chelsea's ongoing struggles defending set pieces. Additionally, the writer suggests Palestra's high-pressing runs and interchanging with forwards Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers will grant Alonso greater tactical flexibility across the squad.
