Colorado Avalanche forwards Zachary L'Heureux and Logan O'Connor are nearing returns after participating in morning practice. While both forwards will miss tonight's game due to preseason lower-body injuries, reporter Jesse Montano indicates they are expected back very soon. L'Heureux was acquired from the Nashville Predators in June, while O'Connor is working back after being limited to just 13 appearances last season.
Elsewhere in the Central Division, Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Bowen Byram will sit out against the Buffalo Sabres tonight due to a family matter. In addition, Winnipeg Jets forward Gabriel Vilardi took a maintenance day and missed practice following the team's season-opening loss to the Boston Bruins, according to Ken Wiebe.
