The Florida Panthers are considered one of the favorites to make a run at the Stanley Cup this season. They did not even make the postseason last year after winning the NHL championship the two previous years. Injuries and fatigue…

The Florida Panthers have placed captain Aleksander Barkov on long-term injured reserve following a leg injury suffered against the San Jose Sharks. The center left Thursday's contest after falling awkwardly when his left knee buckled following contact with Sharks defenseman Darnell Nurse. Under LTIR rules, Barkov is scheduled to miss a minimum of 10 games.
Barkov underwent an MRI on Friday and will consult with team physicians on Monday to determine the full extent of the issue. The setback follows a 2025-26 campaign that Barkov missed entirely due to torn ligaments in his right knee, having appeared in just two games this season before the injury.
