Key Things to Know
  • Alan Hutton backed Harvey Elliott to revive his career on loan at Valencia despite a turbulent start in Spain.
  • Elliott joined Valencia on transfer deadline day after falling down the pecking order at parent club Liverpool.
  • A previous loan to Aston Villa saw Elliott frozen out under Unai Emery after just nine appearances.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton has backed Liverpool playmaker Harvey Elliott to revive his career on loan at Valencia, comparing the move to his own loan spell at Mallorca in 2013 after being sidelined in England. Elliott joined Valencia on a temporary deal on transfer deadline day following an unsuccessful loan at Aston Villa last season.

Valencia currently sit 19th in La Liga and have already dismissed manager Carlos Corberan, limiting Elliott to three substitute appearances. Hutton believes La Liga's technical style will suit the 23-year-old's skillset and help him regain confidence after making only nine appearances during his previous spell under Unai Emery.
