Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt expressed his frustration after his team was shut out 3-0 by the Chicago White Sox in Game 1 of their postseason series. Chicago utilized five pitchers to combine for a three-hit shutout, extinguishing multiple Cleveland scoring threats with the bases loaded. Vogt acknowledged postgame that Chicago simply outpitched the Guardians.
Munetaka Murakami powered Chicago's offense with a two-run, 440-foot home run in the fourth inning off Cleveland starter Parker Messick, while Colson Montgomery added an RBI double in the seventh. White Sox reliever Grant Taylor sealed the win by pitching four scoreless innings, while Vogt commended Messick's solid 4.1-inning effort despite taking the loss.
