Jose Alvarado might not be the New York Knicks’ biggest star, but in Bushwick, the NBA champion is recognised by everyone, especially after what happened on Saturday.
New York Knicks guard Jose Alvarado became visibly emotional and moved to tears during a ceremony temporarily co-naming Brooklyn's Knickerbocker Avenue as 'Alvarado Avenue.' The Bushwick native was honored by his hometown community following his role in helping the Knicks win an NBA championship after arriving at the trade deadline.
Addressing the cheering crowd, Alvarado expressed profound pride in his roots, telling fans that coming from the same streets made him who he is today. Following his championship-winning contributions, the 28-year-old signed a three-year, $14.3 million contract extension to remain with the franchise.
