The charges follow an investigation into false statements allegedly submitted during Conor McGregor's appeal against a civil verdict that found him liable for sexually assaulting Nikita Hand in 2018.

McGregor’s appeal originally included an affidavit from O’Reilly alleging she saw Hand in a fight with an ex-boyfriend, though the evidence was subsequently withdrawn. McGregor was ordered to pay Hand £206,000 plus legal fees and maintains his innocence.
