The Boston Celtics have broken a seven-year trend by bringing Phil Pressey back for a second season as head coach of their G League affiliate.

The Boston Celtics retained Phil Pressey as head coach of their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, for a second season. The announcement makes Pressey the first Maine Celtics head coach to return for a second consecutive campaign in seven years. In his debut season, Pressey guided Maine to a 27-23 overall record, securing a playoff appearance and reaching the Tip-Off Tournament after posting a 9-5 run.
Maine finalized Pressey's staff, bringing back assistant coach Mike Malat and player development lead Boaz Mensah while adding Devin Sweetney. Ahead of their November 6 season opener against the Westchester Knicks, Maine also acquired the rights to Ibou Badji, Tyler Polley, Erik Reynolds II, and a 2026 first-round draft pick from the Windy City Bulls for Jalen Bridges and Tyrell Roberts.
