Manchester United wanted to sign Lewis Hall this summer but didn't push hard enough and could see the left-back's price tag soar next year.

Manchester Evening News writer Tyrone Marshall argues that Manchester United could regret failing to sign Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall during the summer transfer window. Hall was United's top target for the position, but the club prioritized three midfield signings due to budget limitations. After Newcastle sold several key players, the opportunity for a permanent transfer closed, leaving United without a new left-back amid ongoing injury problems for Luke Shaw.
Marshall notes that Hall has since signed a new contract at Newcastle, played regularly under Matthias Jaissle, and impressed for England, including in a 7-0 victory against Croatia. As a result of his strong performances, Marshall suggests Hall's transfer valuation is soaring, which could complicate any future pursuit by United when they seek defensive reinforcements.
