Tottenham sit bottom of the Premier League table after taking just two points from five matches
Tottenham Hotspur chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has publicly backed manager Roberto De Zerbi despite the team sitting bottom of the Premier League. Spurs remain winless after taking just two points from their first five matches of the season, despite spending over £380 million on new signings during the summer transfer window. Speaking at a Fan Advisory Board meeting, Venkatesham acknowledged supporter frustration but expressed confidence in the manager and the restructured squad.
Venkatesham cited encouraging underlying performances and pointed out that significant summer changes will require time to take full effect. He also discussed the club's financial constraints under modern regulations, noting that Tottenham have not turned a profit since 2019 following consecutive 17th-place finishes. To improve player welfare, Tottenham also revamped their medical, physical preparation, and performance departments to counter recent injury problems.
