After staring down a life-threatening illness, Kagiso Rabada on a green-top is hardly that intimidating for Nic Maddinson

Australian batter Nic Maddinson is in contention to make a surprise return to Test cricket against South Africa in Durban. The 34-year-old left-hander earned a shock squad recall nearly a decade after his last Test appearance, and just over a year after completing chemotherapy treatment for testicular cancer.
Maddinson could potentially replace Cameron Green in the starting lineup for the series opener. Having recently scored a century in the domestic One-Day Cup, Maddinson expressed confidence in his fitness, form, and relaxed mindset heading into the series under coach Andrew McDonald and captain Pat Cummins.
