Former Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn stated that the club must consistently compete for silverware due to its stature and history. Speaking after playing in the Tennent's Sixes tournament in Glasgow, the 36-year-old backed manager Derek McInnes to bring trophies back to Ibrox following a recent resurgence that included consecutive victories over Celtic in the Premiership and Premier Sports Cup.
Waghorn noted that early-season struggles were expected after 14 new players arrived during the summer transfer window. Despite long-term injuries to forwards Youssef Chermiti and Lawrence Shankland, Waghorn praised the attacking depth provided by Ryan Naderi, Kevin Kelsy, and Bojan Miovski.
