Wedge Spin Isn’t The Same As Control. Here’s What 11,400 Shots Showed
Key Things to Know
  • MyGolfSpy found that highest wedge spin numbers do not necessarily produce the best proximity to the hole.
  • A comprehensive 2026 test analyzed 15 wedges across 11,400 shots in dry and wet conditions.
  • The New Level SPN V3 finished as the most accurate wedge, averaging 6.9 feet from the hole.
The Story in 60 Seconds

MyGolfSpy's 2026 wedge test evaluated 15 wedges over 11,400 shots, concluding that maximum spin does not automatically translate to superior control or proximity to the hole. While the Performance Golf ONE.1 registered the highest dry spin at 7,217 rpm, the New Level SPN V3 finished closer to the pin and ranked as the most accurate wedge overall.

The test highlighted the importance of consistent carry distance and moisture management. The Titleist Vokey SM11 was named the best wedge for spin in 2026 due to consistent spin numbers in both dry and wet conditions, whereas other models lost over half their spin in the wet.
