Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe appears to have publicly challenged one of Jose Mourinho's instructions in what could develop into a flashpoint at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe appeared to publicly challenge manager Jose Mourinho after sharing an Instagram video of himself cycling in Switzerland. The post came despite Mourinho previously stating in a September interview that players should avoid cycling to prevent injuries while recovering. Mbappe had recently withdrawn from France duty after sustaining an injury while scoring against Turkey.
Supporters and media interpreted both the cycling activity and Mbappe's selected soundtrack as a message directed at Mourinho. The Portuguese manager was hired to restore discipline at the Santiago Bernabeu following a turbulent 2025-26 season that saw the departures of Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.
