Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck has suffered an ankle injury on international duty, while head coach Niko Kovac is reportedly nearing a contract extension. Schlotterbeck has left the German national team camp and will miss the remainder of their fixtures this window. According to reports, he is also doubtful for Dortmund's upcoming clash against Werder Bremen on October 9.
Meanwhile, Dortmund has reportedly reached an agreement with Kovac to extend his contract until 2029. Bild reports that only the formal signature remains before the deal is finalized. Writer Sean Keyser highlights Dortmund's strong defense and perfect start to the current campaign under Kovac following their resurgence late last season.
