The Philadelphia Eagles are placing running back Tank Bigsby on injured reserve, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Bigsby is scheduled to undergo core muscle surgery, with expectations that he could return in six weeks or fewer. His abdomen injury reportedly worsened during the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams after he received increased playing time following an early hamstring injury to starter Saquon Barkley.

With Barkley also at risk of missing time, Will Shipley remains the only healthy running back on Philadelphia's active roster ahead of Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. To reinforce their depth, the Eagles have practice squad options in Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele, and Jaydon Blue.
