Manchester United lead the race to sign Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven in a €70 million January deal.
Manchester United are preparing an ambitious €70 million (£58 million) permanent bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven during the upcoming January transfer window. According to reports via journalist Pete O'Rourke, the Red Devils have emerged as the frontrunners in the race to sign the 25-year-old Dutch international centre-back to reinforce their defensive backline.
Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi views Van de Ven as a vital pillar in his high-pressing system alongside Cristian Romero. Despite United's interest, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and technical director Johan Lange are expected to reject mid-season approaches, with the club under no financial pressure to sell the defender.
